Amercoat 137 is a high-performance non-skid epoxy primer manufactured by PPG Protective & Marine Coatings. It is primarily designed as an industrial-grade adhesive primer for metal surfaces in harsh marine environments. Key Characteristics
Application Details
- Purpose: Functions as a specialized direct-to-metal (DTM) or holding primer for heavy-duty non-skid coatings like Amercoat 138G.
- Chemistry: A two-component epoxy system consisting of a resin and a cure (hardener).
- Military Grade: Qualified to MIL-PRF-24667, Types I and II, making it suitable for US Naval ships and other military vessels.
- Colors: Commonly available in Dark Gray, Buff, and Green.

- Thinner: Recommended thinner is Amercoat T-10 (Thinner 91-82).
- Packaging: Typically sold in 5-gallon monopack kits or 20L drums.
- Hazardous Materials: Contains ingredients like crystalline silica and various solvents. It is flammable and can cause skin/eye irritation.
- Protection: Always wear protective gloves, eye protection, and a respirator during application. Ensure adequate ventilation to keep vapor concentrations within safe limits.
